Two scientists, who are in possession of two fractions of a meteorite,
are somehow temporarily drawn into the fourth dimension, and to prevent
that from happening again, the Science Patrol retrieves the pieces of the
meteor from them and contains them ... with one another, which is recipe
for disaster because once together, the two pieces form some sort of giant
monster against which all conventional weapons are useless and that sucks
everything into the fourth dimension, including Science Patrol's Hayata
(Susumu Kurobe), who just happens to secretly be giant robot Ultraman (Bin
Furuya) - but what good will a giant robot do in the fourth dimension?
Fortunately, Hayata finds his way out of the fourth dimension just in
time, and once out, he (as Ultraman) has no problems defeating and
destroying the giant monster. One of the more inspired episodes
of Ultraman: The almost surreal depiction of the fourth
dimension is at least fun, the bizarre rock-like monster with feelers is
well-conceived and a welcome change from the usual and usually more hokey
lizard creatures, and the story breaks away from mere formula storytelling
at least occasionally.
