One by one, the members of an expedition to a remote island are killed
by ... by something the Science Patrol figures out has to be some kind of
plant. Thus the last survivor of the expedition, reporter Etsuko, is put
under heavy guard by the Patrol, and sure enough the (man-sized) plant
shows up and tries to kill Etsuko - but is chased away by the Patrol and
their super-gun. Unfortunately the only lasting effect the supergun has on
the plant-monster is that it makes it grow to giant monster-size ... good
thing then that Science Patrol's Hataya (Susumu Kurobe) is secretly giant
robot and monsterbutt-kicker Ultraman (Bin Furuya), who has no problems
defeating and killing the monster on hand. Concerning its
plantlike monster and its mystery-style plot, this is one of the more
inspired episodes of Ultraman, but of course the main reason
to watch it is still the robot-monster fight - and the episode is also fun
concernng this aspect.
