A nuclear fog threatens Tokyo, but rather out of the blue, an alien
called Zarab appears and promises to take care of this - but in exchange
asks humankind to trust him. But even though Zarab, who tells humankind
he's their brother, is successful, Science Patrol refuses to trust him,
and when the Patrol's top pilot Hayata (Susumu Kurobe) spies in on the
alien in his spaceship, he witnesses him hypnotically control a bunch of
humans, and is certain that Zarab plans the same kind of control for all
humankind. Hayata wants to warn the Science Patrol, but Zarab has long
grown wise to him and even knows Hayata secretly is giant robot Ultraman
(Bin Furuya), so he makes him his captive and turns into Ultraman in his
stead to destroy Tokyo. But somehow, Hayata manages to turn into Ultraman
as well, beat the living crap out of the impostor until Zarab turns back
into his original form (but still giant size), whereupon he easily
wrestles and defeats him. Like most episodes of Ultraman,
this one is good fun, and the especially hokey looking monster is almost
endearing.
