The comet Tsuiphon is passing by earth dangerously close, so close in
fact that people are fearing that all the H-bombs that aren't dismantled
in time will just go off. Now dismantling H-bombs is not the problems as
such, but there are 6 of them missing and thought to have been swallowed
by a giant monster living in the Japanese Alpes. Science Patrol heads for
the Alpes to take care of the monster, yet they can't find it - and still,
the comet passes without any kind of disaster happening, but pretty much
right after the threat of the comet has gone by (literally), the Science
Patrolmen in the Alpes are attacked by a giant ape-like snowmonster -
which has not been the bomb swallower though. Then a flying monster from
the comet joins in the fun, and ultimately, a dinosaur-like monster - the
one that actually swallowed the H-bombs - shows up as well. First the
earth monsters tag-team against the outer-space monster and destroy it,
then they start fighting each other. Finally, when the bomb-swallower has
defeated the snow monster, giant robot Ultraman (Bin Furuya) - who's of
course the secret alter ego of the Patrol's top pilot Hayata (Susumu
Kurobe) - arrives on the scene for a bit of wrestling with the remaining
monster, then he puts it into suspended animation, cuts it open, and
throws the H-bombs into outer space. This episode of Ultraman
very clumsily transports a pacifist message - and is all the funnier for
it. Plus, it contains some of the goofier-looking monsters of the series
(especially the snow creature), and a bit of tag-team monster wrestling.
Hiighly entertaining!
