Amagi Mountain: Goro (Kazuo Suzuki) is a simpleton as he has been
raised by monkeys after the death of his parents - but when a giant monkey
(Yukio Fukutome) shows up in his area, he's the only one able to
communicate with him. Unfortunately, when feeding the monster, Goro has
taken to stealing fruits from the feeds of local farmers, which is why
he's eventually sent to prison. Now the story of the giant monkey has
attracted the attention of the Daily News to such an extent that
the editor-in-chief (Yoshifumi Tajima) himself has decided to take a trip
to Amagi Mountain - and just in time to see the giant wreak havoc in town
in search of his friend Goro. Now the editor in chief has seen photos of
his star reporter Yuriko (Hiroko Sakurai), who has stumbled upon a tribe
of peaceful giant monkeys on a small island in the pacific, so he decides
to finance the relocation of the giant monkey at hand - but first they
need Goro to calm the beast down ... A modified and re-purposed
Kong-suit
from King Kong versus
Godzilla with an odd tail attached sounds like a good idea in
writing, and at least the creature does quite a bit of damage - but in all
the episode is a little bit too sweet, clearly made for children rather
than kaiju fans. That said, go into it with low expectations and you will
be at least somewhat entertained.
