Warring triad bosses Ai Kow and Piggy Lau shoot each other fighting
over Monica, the beautiful girlfriend of small time crook Tei. They only
make peace when they arrive in hell, and since they are now pals rather
than enemies, they manage to escape hell and return to earth on a mission to make good in
seven days - and to that end they even repossess their old, dead bodies
(even if for a time they are in each other's body). Their first mission is
to save Tei, whom both their gangs have blamed for the death of their
respective boss. Then they have to convince Monica's rich mafia father
that Tei is indeed the right husband for his daughter - which also
includes a round of magical Kung Fu. Finally, they have to see that the
wedding ceremony goes through as planned, even if that means giving their
own lives (or rather undead existences) in the process, as the Judge of
Hell, who has been after them since their escape, has finally caught up
with them. The basic plot of this film - dead persons coming
back to the world of the living to do good and atone for their sins - is
pretty much stock in trade, and I'm sure you've all seen it done before
elsewhere, and probably even better. That's not to say that The Vampire
Partner is an entirely bad film, it's just a harmless comedy that adds
nothing to the well-known plot, is full of jokes that lack originality and
action sequences of the unmemorable variety. Sure there are worse films
based on the same plot, but that's no reason to watch this one.
