A lake in the middle of nowhere, Canada: 50 years ago, a young girl
(Emily Taylor) was killed in some Native American sacrificial ceremony,
strangled by her own hypnotized brother (Steven Taylor). Now, a group of
teens come to the lake on a fishing trip, and wouldn't you know it, they
all get strangled too, one (Jonathan Cherry) even by his own, hypnotized
brother (Matt Murray). To noone's real surprise, the owner of the hut at
the lake (Don Allison), a man about sixty, is behind all the killings (and
was actually the boy who killed his sister 50 years ago), helped by a tall
Native American (Stephen R.Hart). Very weak slasher that
holds next to no surprises or plottwists, not even shock and gore, and
that isn't even decently paced: The first hour of the movie is wasted with
setting up the characters, even though none of them ever rises above
cardboard level, while the suspense and murder sequences in the last half
hour seem rushed, often confusing, and not really thought through. At
least the Canadian backdrops are really pittoresque, but you hardly watch
a slasher for its pittoresque backdrops, now do you? By the way, the
politically correct portion of the audience might also have a problem with the
evil Native American magic vs good white kids-aspect of
the film's plot, but believe me, that's the least of the movie's problems ...
