The police have surrounded Marie's (Leica Lucien) house, but she won't
come out and she's armed. Her crime: She's black, and she's an illegal
immigrant from Haiti who entered the US when she saw her future in her
home country shattered by the earthquake. And now, after 10 years in the
USA and after a crime she has committed, she is
to be deported. In a last effort she forces the police to put her in touch
with a journalist (Sean Brown) to make sure her story doesn't go unheard
... Wrath City is a rather powerful statement about the
current state of the USA where under the (relatively) new presidency
racism is allowed to rear its ugly head again more than in quite some
time. What makes this movie work though is that it doesn't try to drive
its message home by over-feeding the audience with blunt facts and
statistics but rolls everything into a rather compelling story brought to
life by its characters and actors, and of course clever writing and a
subtle direction. Well worth a watch. ... and
