Earth has been overrun by zombies 50 years ago, and the zombies have
since organized themselves in a way that they have built farms where they
breed, raise and eventually kill people for food, just as if they were
cattle. The non-enslaved humans live across the land in small tribes that
are always on the alert concerning zombie attacks. David (Adam Stuart) is
one of the bravest soldiers of one of these tribes, and he has only
recently fallen in love with Star (Alissa Koenig), whom he saved from a
zombie breeding farm, when he and she both are captured by the zombies, but kept alive
for breeding purposes. In captivity, David makes friends with Sliver
(Jonathan Badeen), one of the living who knows his way about the zombie
farm incredibly well - and why wouldn't he, he is actually with a rival
tribe that has set up the farm in the first place to keep the zombies in
line. Sliver is now ordered by his tribe to kill David, who might be a
threat, but instead he hooks up with David, helps him escape and helps
David's
tribe to completely destroy the zombie farm and kill all the zombies, then
leads David's tribe against his own (former) tribe, a bunch of bigots who
have been traitors to humankind. Somewhere along the way, David dies. One
of the most despicable zombie films I have ever seen - not so much in
terms of violence (which is only moderate by genre standards) but because
of its underlying philosophy: Zombie Wars is pretty much an
unashamed advertisement for waging war on those you think below you, with
the subhuman status of the zombies never even put into question throughout
the movie. Now admittedly, apart from George A.Romero's better
zombie flicks, there is only very little social subtext in the genre as
such, but the way in which the posterboy actors are presented as
superhumans in this one and in which their firearms are idealized is
almost sickening - and not in a good sense. Deeply worrying for all the
wrong reasons, don't watch !!!
