To retrieve his car that got stolen last
episode - and the Necronomicon he has left inside -, Ash (Bruce Campbell)
decides to throw a big party at Chet's (Ted Raimi) bar, as he figures the
carnappers had to be cool kids to steal his cool car, and cool kids go to
cool parties, and who throws cooler parties than Ash. Of course, what Ash
doesn't know is that one of the kids in the car, Amber (Olivia Mahood)
reads from the Necronomicon, and suddenly the car gets possessed and in Christine-style
kills off the kids one by one. Amber of course gets possessed as well and
shows up at Ash's party, trying to seduce him - but when Ash's dad (Lee
Majors) shows up, she decides to go for the old man instead. Ash finds out
pretty much last second that Amber has turned into a Deadite and kills her
just before she can kill his father. And that finally brings Ash the
deserved respect he has always wanted from his dad - not that it lasts
long as dad gets run over by Ash's homicidal car almost immediately ...
Another fun episode: There's plenty of gore and humour, the Christine-references
are put to good use, Ash bungles things up as usual with half-baked ideas,
which is always nice to see, and the father-son conflict between him and
his dad is resolved in a very fun (if violent) way. Sure, the series'
blend of slapstick and gore has to be your thing to enjoy this one, but if
so, there's really plenty to like.
