A woman (Ans) visits a graveyard - but while most graveyards are places
of mourning, this particular one celebrates death, as witnessed in the
decorations of the place and the adjoining church, created entirely out of
skulls and bones ... Even though Ossarium is by no means a
documentary, it's hardly a narrative film, it's more of a cinematic poem
in which director René Wiesner, like in his last movies Todessehnsucht
and Addio Uomo, lets his
predilection for all things macabre roam freely - and with quite
fascinating results, actually, as this is a movie cock-full of impressive
imagery, all carried by a slightly netherworldly atmosphere, and set to a
rather haunting score. It might not be for everyone, but if you're into
all things creepy, then this one's for you!
