A direct sequel to Star
of the East: Ali Kali, the ruler of Hudatvia who has overthrown El
Hudat, his own identical twin brother, in the former episode, has now been
overthrown himself (thanks to a little bit of intervention from underwater
king Titan and Surface Agent X20) and makes an emergency getaway to
Marineville, where his brother is held.
In Marineville, the brothers come face to face under the surveillance
of El Hudat's lawyer ... who is of course agent X20 who switches the two
brothers at an opportune time and soon takes off with El Hudat, to make
him leader of his country again, as El Hudat has promised King Titan to
help him conquer the surface. However, the World Aquanaut Security Patrol
is quick (but not quick enough) to notice the switch, so supersub Stingray
is sent after Titan's sub, the Mechanical Fish, to intercept her. And
intercepting Stingray does, sending the Mechanical Fish to Kingdom Come by
way of missile. Somehow though, El Hudat has survived the ordeal, and when
he surfaces (literally), his brother, who has been with the Stingray crew,
immediately goes one on one with him until they have knocked each other
unconscious. Problem is, now nobody can tell who's Ali Kali and who's El
Hudat and the brothers of course both claim to be Ali Kali (the one who's
supposed to be free), but since the are both no-good tyrants, the World
Aquanaut Security Patrol just puts them both under arrest on suspicion.
Some great miniature work - especially an extended scene involving an
out-of-control biplane and an extended submarine chase - make up for the
rather weak and even childish plot.
