Back when, Cara (Mikayla Iverson) has had a lucrative job as game
developer in the city - that has turned toxic after her boss sexually
harrassed her. Since then she has moved to a cabin in the woods in the
middle of nowhere to work as a recluse and make some money off
crypto-mining. But eventually, her crypto currency grows sour and she uses
all of her expertise as programmer to see what's wrong - only to find
weird messages encrypted into her crypto coins. But the deeper she digs
into the subject the weirder findings she comes up with, findings that
might point to outer space. Thing is, somebody soon finds out about her
findings, and that somebody is keen to get her findings for themselves ... A
very unusual science fiction thriller that really sucks one into the world
of its protagonist as a recluse - by really revolving the film just around
her, which in turn means she's in almost every frame of the movie ... and
does a tremendous job carrying the movie. Now I'll admit, much of the
techno-babble used in the film goes above the average viewer's head (and I
have no clue if it makes sense even to the expert), but the film gets the
emotional core just right. And a moody directorial effort making perfect
use of the impressive landscapes further helps making this a pretty cool
genre entry.
