Ever since her dad has been stabbed to death by a drug addict some 50
years ago, Nanny Lou (Charlene Tilton) has made it her mission to get
addicts back on the straight and narrow, and she has since launched a
clinic to that end, run by a dedicated personnel. But that said, Rodney
(Jasper Cole) has been at her clinit at least half a dozen times and has
relapsed again and again, so much so that over time he and Nanny Lou have
developed a sort of love-hate relationship. However, this time around he
seems to be at the right path, especially since he's sharing a room with
Dustin (Damien Chinappi) in whom he sees a younger version of himself, and
he doesn't want him to go down the same road he has. Also, Dustin's sister
Cindy (Kaiti Wallen) offers both Rodney and Dustin to help out at her
store, which gives their life some meaning and stability outside the
clinic. But that said, in the clinic itself, things start to happen that
just don't add up, like patients just disappearing, while others being
bribed with a healthy supply of drugs. And when Rodney and Dustin get the
feeling they might be next on the list to just disappear, they start doing
some investigating - only the truth might exceed even theire worst
expectations ...
Part agenda movie part horror flick, this film finds just the
right balance between these two poles, going deep into character
development while gradually building up suspense for a pretty gruesome
finale. And a horror savvy yet subtle enough direction sees to it that the
viewer's really glued to one's seat while a very competent cast led by
Charlene Tilton at her scariest really drive the movie home, making it
great genre entertainment.
