It was supposed to be the happiest day in Harry's (Hayden J. Weal)
life, his wedding - but pretty much last minute, his girlfriend Fiona
(Casey Zilbert) bails on him. What with the wedding venue already booked,
all the food and wine already delivered, Harry decides to go there anyhow
with his two best friends from way back, Ants (Nick Davies) and Jess
(Gemma Easton-Knight), and with the intention to drink his grief away. But
things are rarely ever as simple as they're supposed to be, what with
Fiona's uncle Jake (Steve Barr) turning up at the venue as nobody has
informed him the wedding was off, and also Jess's younger sister Bella
(Katrina George), who has obvious designs on Harry. And as much as Harry
wants to drown in self-pity, he has to eventually realize he's not the
only one with problems ... A rather sweet comedy that might
notbe as edgy or controversial as can be, but has an engaging
slice-of-life quality to it, and thus a sort of relatability that's hard
not to like. And an able ensemble that uniformly plays it straight and
gives the necessary emotional weight to the film's more dramatic scenes,
and a subtle direction that only mirrors the slight-of-life quality of the
script help make this one pretty good watch.
