Sid's (Tom Blyth) a rather quiet young man who believes in studying
hard to get anywhere in life. He doesn't have any real hobbies and lacks
friends, and he has to take care of his alcoholic mother (Charlotte
Milchard). Then he meets Scott (Richard Mason), a new student at his
school who's pretty much his polar opposite, he seems to not have a care
in the world and is a bit of a dreamer - which resulted in him being
kicked out of school after school. As different as they are from one
another, they take an immediate liking in one another, and while Scott
helps Sid to open up more and more, Sid pretty much grounds Scott in
reality. Soon enough, they come up with a label for themselves,
"dreamchasers", and before long they start to actually chase
their dreams - which includes bringing business idea after business idea
to life, and unfortunately also includes them getting into trouble at
school, locking horns with small fry crooks, and also get into many an
argument that threaten to destroy their friendship. However, there's
always one more dream to chase ... Scott and Sid might
not be big on spectacle - in fact it's a film that flows along rather
quietly -, but it's really a movie that's almost instantly relatable to
everyone - after all, we've al at points in our lives pondered whether to
follow our dreams or follow the safe route. And what makes Scott and Sid
so especially touching is that it really takes the slice-of-life approach
to things, doesn't try to exaggerate to bring a point across but is made
up of situations, some of them funny, some of them sad, that just for that
feel very real. And two likeable leads supported by an able ensemble of
course help to make this a film well worth watching.
