Lucifer's reign of Hell and beyond faces a mighty threat - descendant
of mighty Seraphim is to walk the earth according to a prophecy. Only the
prophecy fails to tell whether Seraphim is a threat to Lucifer or an
allie. So Lucifer's seven guardian demons on earth, fallen priest Asmodeus
(Tom Lodewyck), sensual Astarte (Debra Lamb), mysterious Agrad-Bat-Mahlat
(Brinke Stevens), powerful Lord Belial (Tony Todd), quite insane Astaroth
(Nick Principe), Paimon (Tim J. Hays) plus their leader Azazel (Angus
Scrimm) assemble to decide on a way of action. Only the demons are
anything but on the same page, and especially Asmodeus would love to see
Lucifer's reign ended. But there are more players in the game, like
ancient creatures Father (Chris Burchette) and Mother (Rachel Grubb) and
their daughter Victoria (Shannon Lark), Lucifer's set of eyes on earth the
Watcher (Camden Toy), Asmodeus' wife Elizabeth (Debbie Rochon), the
all-wise Raine (Linnea Quigley), mysterious woman with a cause Serena
(Barbara Magnolfi), the church's last line of defence Father Thomas
(Morgan Peter Brown), and young Kelly (Kaylee Williams) who got sucked
into the proceedings through no fault of her own ...
Now I won't lie, The Devil's Discipes packs a lot of
story into its 80+ minutes of running time, maybe too much to follow at
one sitting - but that said, the film never fails to entertain (at least
all self-respecting horror fans), there's plenty of torture, bizarre
murders, moments of grotesquery. quite a fair share of nudity, all
delivered at a steady pace, and the cast that's certainly a who's who of
indie horror are uniformly at the top of their game (which is saying quite
something given their combined talent), and director Joe Hollow finds
quite the right balance between atmoisphere and visceral outbursts to keep
the audience glued to the sreen for a great piece of genre entertainment.
