Benny's (Clayton Watson) just a lowly driver for mob boss Abe (Jeremy
Lindsay Taylor), not really involved in the violent side of things. But
for what it's worth, Abe genuinely likes him. So how come Benny has come
round to be the sole survivor of a shoot-out in a bar between Abe's men
and fellow mob boss, crazy Frankie (Nathan Phillips). Well, it all has to
do with the fact that Abe suffers from multiple personality disorder, and
one of these personalities is the totally ruthless killer Kane (Jake Ryan)
... Now this is quite an unusual movie, as on one hand it seems
to intricately understand the gangster genre, its style and tropes, but on
the other hand it blends that with a story that's more horror inspired -
and this mix actually works rather well, as this film digs very deep into
its characters and unearths many a dark detail, this way also making the
very violent finale all the more hard-hitting but also emotional. And a
first rate cast of course help bringing this movie to life rather
beautifully, making this a pretty unique genre flick.
