They (Danni Shepherd, Ellen Carnazza, Lucy Oke) were best frinds in
high school - who have since turned housewives, with none of them any
longer content with their respective husbands (Dale Hooley, Paul Sutton,
Chris Dudley) - for very understandable reasons even, ranging from
substance abuse to domestic violence. So they make up a scheme to punish
their husbands, with the punishment fitting the crime ...
Story-wise, The Pact is very much reminiscent of in a
good way old-fashioned short stories (think Roald Dahl or the like here)
that focus on storytelling, have enough twists and turns to keep one
entertained throughout, some dark details revealed in a light enough way,
and a surprise ending as a pay-off. And as both writer and director, Paul
Sutton keeps the ball low enough on a directorial level to let his own
story shine, while choosing a strong cast (himself included) to bring his
tale to life, making this really cool, properly morbid entertainment.
