On their way to Mallorca, country bumkins Simon (Andreas Pape), his
blind girlfriend Nina (Inés Zahmoul) and their mutual best friend Dodo
(Anna Habeck) have a layover in Frankfurt and thus decide to take a tour
through the big city for some shopping and sight-seeing, to then go for a
drink to what they mistake to be an average pub - but once in they have to
realize they've stumbled into a fetish club, and immediately they feel
like fish out of water. Unfortunately, the personnel have almost
immediately grown wise to them, provoked them to start a fight, and then
overcome them to ultimately tie them up in the club's torture dungeon.
Once in the dungeon, they meet the club's madame Maman (Manoush), who
tortures/mutilates each of them individually a bit - and then she hands
them over to a paying customers who just love to inflict physical pain
that leaves scars - and maybe more ... A piece of torture porn
that's not at all unsimilar to Eli Roth's popular Hostel
from 4 years prior in premise, but definitely manages to stand on its own,
as it's very well-made and looks very polished, it's well-played with
special kudos going to Manoush in this department, and its inherent lust
for mutilation certainly doesn't fail to disturb the viewer. That said,
this is not a film for the squeamish for sure, and probably not even for
most middle-of-the-road horror fans, but for those into splatter and gore,
it's not to be missed.
