Robot Kryten (Robert Llewellyn) finds a way to timetravel via especially
developed photographs, & so Lister (Craig Charles) decides to go
back to persuade his old self to invent the immensely popular tension
sheets (which are nothing else but the beloved packing paper with
airbubbles, but cut into squares & painted red), & thus becomes
a millionaire, having never entered the Red Dwarf in the first place.
But Rimmer (Chris Barrie), the dead holographic member of the Red Dwaf
soon finds out that without Rimmer there also would be no Cat (Danny
John-Jules), who is a descendant of Lister's original cat, & he
would never have met Kryten, making him - besides Holly (Hattie Hayridge)
the ship's computer - the only member of the Red Dwarf's crew.
So he
decides to go back to persuade Lister to give up his life as
an immensely rich man, when that goes wrong he tries to make his former self to invent the
tension sheet even before Lister, but accidently only gives the idea to
the original inventor, leaving everything exactly as it was - with one
exception, Rimmer is no longer a hologram but alive again. He is so
happy about the fact he accidently kills himself ...
Story with a rather childish premise & very predictable
proceedings. Only worth an occasional chuckle.
