Fascinated by Miss Yun's (Cheng Pei-Pei) handling of a whip, Wang (Yueh
Hua) concludes that she must have been trained by Fang, otherwise known
as the Shadow Whip, a great master of the martial arts, whom Wang has
been trailing for a long time. So he follows Miss Yun home to a
guesthouse in the middle of nowhere, where another master of the martial
arts, chief Hong (Ku Feng), also does some investigating of the Shadow Whips
whereabouts. Fang (Tien Feng) meanwhile - Miss Yun's uncle - does indeed run the
guesthouse & for some reason stays in hiding - until Hong finds him
out & challenges him to a martial arts-duel, that is, which they
have in a nearby forest. At the same time, Wang finds out about Fang
from miss Yun & tells her to bring him an invitation to an
appointment in the next city - which she brings to her uncle while in
mid fight. Coming back to the guest house, Miss Yun finds everyone
murdered by the 16 bandits of Yangyun (led by Go Ming) - who want their revenge on Fang,
claiming he had robbed some treasure 15 years ago before they could get
their hands on it. Miss Yun fights the bandits, & Fang, having left
Hong in mid-fight, comes to her aid, telling her to go to Wang to tell
him he might be a tad late, having to finish that fight. In town, Wang tells Miss Yun that he also
wants his revenge on Fang, since he, in the above-mentioned robbery from
15 years ago, killed his uncle Yang. However as Hong - who also wants to
take vengeance for the same robbery - has his men surround the house he
stays at to force Miss Yun out to take her hostage, Wang has no
reservations of helping the girl in combat against her adversaries. But
the fight gets so fierce that in the end they can only be saved by Fang,
who now tells them what really happened at the robbery, that he was
actually set up by some bandit wearing a mask but wielding the same whip
as he does, & that he only went into hiding to guard Miss Yun, who
is indeed the daughter of Yang - Wang's uncle. Together, the three of
them come to the conclusion that the real villain must be Wong, &
Miss Yun manages to trick him into admitting it in front of his men, who
no sooner turn their backs on him, now making it a fair fight between
Hong on one side, Miss Yun, Wang & Fang on the other, which the
latter win.
Entertaining fast moving martial arts movie, set mainly in snowy
landscapes, with Cheng Pei-Pei in furs wielding a fierce whip - great.
