It's Florida 2017, with hurricane Irma about to make landfall, so like
thousands, maybe millions other Floridians, best friends Emily (Raven
Wynn), Aaron (Caleb Martin), Michelle (Chauntel Hall), Ana (Melina Kay)
and Mo (Edgar Tomas Lopez) head north to escape the expected devastation.
Thing is, they make their way over backroads to avoid the traffic - and
find themselves out of gas in the middle of nowhere. Now fortunately they
find an abandoned airplane graveyard. And with no better option, they're
happy to accept the place's hangar as their temporary abode. Now not all
is too well between the friends as Aaron is together with Emily but lusts
after Michelle, Emily's pregnant but hasn't told Aaron yet, Mo's a
recovering addict with all the challenges that come with that condition,
and Ana's driving everyone else up the wall with her attempts to capture
everything on her cellphone. But all their issues dwarf when they notice
they're no alone in the hangar - and by not alone I mean they're with a
masked killer with a predilection for mutilation who's out for blood ... Now
this is not a movie that reinvents the wheel, or even attempts to, as at
heart it is a slasher and follows the formula rather closely - apart from
the ending that brings a new and welcomely chilling twist to things. But
the film is also a really fun ride, as it scores high in the suspense
department, is suitably violent without drowning things in gore, and it
spends much time in building up its characters and giving them agendas,
making their demises all the more palpable and shocking for the audience.
Plus, the location alone, which is rather beautifully filmed and cleverly
integrated into the story, is almost worth the price of admission alone.
So brace yourself for pretty cool genre entertainment.
