Plato (Joachim Fuchsberger) is a gangster who has just been released
from prison, and now crime kingpin the Marchese (Karl-Otto Alberti) and
his men are after himbecause he's the only one who knows about the
whereabouts of a certain printing plate to forge 5-Dollar bills with ...
but in fact he's of course an Interpol agent who's after the Marchese and
uses the printing plate merely as bait. Still, fighting the Marchese might
just be too big a bite to swallow for him and Tamara (Heidi Hansen), a
young blonde who has just come along to collect the reward money, as the
villains soon win the upper hand.
Enter Jimmy Bondi (Rudolf Zehetgruber), agent of General Services, and
his super Volkswagen Beetle Dudu - a computerized car programmed to beat
up those who insult it -, who help Plato in his mission, and then there's
also Magnolia (Kathrin Orginski), Bondi's boss, who has quite a few
gadgets at her disposal that are indispensable when crimefighting ... and
after various pseudo-comical fights and chases, our heroes can of course
overcome the Marchese and his gang - but Jimmy Bondi and Dudu make a hasty
escape after he remembers he has promised Magnolia to marry her ...
Lame comedy relief is provided by Hans Waldherr as strongman gangster
who only wants to sleep and Kurt Jaggberg and Heinz Reincke as American
Mafiosi.
Essentially, Superbug, Super Agent is a bad crime/action comedy
that's about as subtle as the name of its lead character, Jimmy Bondi (for
all those who didn't get it yet, yes this is supposed to be a parody of James
Bond). So expect lame jokes, bad slapstick and underachieving
special effects aplenty, and don't expect any big laughs (at least not
where they are intended) ... but if you are (like me) a cultfilm masochist
and trashfilm fan and have a softspot for bad 1970's entertainment, you
simply have to see this one.
