It's the day Robin (Richard O'Sullivan) is supposed to move in with
Chrissy (Paula Wilcox) & Jo (Sally Thomsett) ... when Chrissy
remembers her mother (Daphne Oxenford) as promised to pay her a visit -
& mother wouldn't take it lightly to find out her daughter is living
with a man.
So at first the girls figure to get Robin to the local pub & have
him spend a few hours there ... until mother has decided to spend the
night in Chrissy's flat, actually in Robin's room - & suddenly the new
tenant has become a problem, especially when the girls can't persuade him
to watch an all-night showing of War & Peace at the local
cinema. Eventually the girls decide to sneak Rogin into their bedroom, but
somehow it ends with him locked out the balcony in the pouring rain with
no shoes, having to find an incredible lame excuse to be let in again,
& in the end finding himself to go to the movies after all ... sill
with no shoes.
Only when he's gone mother tells the girl she knew about Robin from
their landlord (Brian Murphy) all along.
It might be a typical sitcom situation, but all of the actors &
actresses know how to make the most of the story & make it work as an
original piece of comedy.
