Because the cake-factory of his aunts is going down the drains,
PR-expert Giorgio (Stelvio Rosi) decides to help them by buying them some
advertisment time on TV ... but all the TV-stations are totally booked out
for one year in aqdvance, So Giogrio has to come up with another plan ...
& fortunately he learns about Agostino Celli (Bill Ramsey), an absent
minded scientist who has found a way to interrupt TV-broadcasts with
transmissions of his own shows. But for some reason, he was thrown into
the looney bin ...
Of course, Giorgio, & his stuttering right hand man Matteo (Carlo
Delle Piane) break Agostino free, & start transmitting unscheduled
advertising shows for Giorgio's aunts cakes ... & before long the
cakes become a smashing success, but since interrupting TV-programs might
be considered a bit of a crime, the trio is soon also wanted by the police
... & by mysterious Herr Funke (Raoul Retzer), who sends his
top-agent, the lovely Brenda (France Anglade), after them ...
If you haven't already guessed, once Brenda has found out Giorgio &
company & hooked up with them - who are by now hiding in Maddalena's
(Trude Herr) chicken farm - she falls in love with Giorgio, & he with
her, & Herr Funke's schemes are all of a sudden no longer too high on
her agenda ... until thieves raid the place, & she has to confess to
Giorgio that she might have been the cause for the thieves finding them
... upon which he sends her away, only to find out a short time later that
the thieves were actually chicken thieves & didn't touch Agostino's
devices ... & thank god for that, because Giorgio's aunts have since
been arrested (mainly to force Giorgio out into the open), & to pay
their bail, Giorgio has sold an Europe-wide transmission to a soap
manufacturer.
In the end of course all turns out well, Giorgio & gang can make
the transmission before the police can capture them, the soap manufacturer
is so impressed that he bails them all out of prison, sinister Her Funke
turns out to be a benign German secret service agent whop wants to buy the
invention for his gouvernment lest the Russians get it, Giorgio is
reunited with Brenda & soon they marry ... & Agostino deliberately
goes back to the looney bin, which is nothing compared to the madhouse he
has encountered outside.
The film is of curse litle more than a vehicle for many singing
performances of then popular Schlager-music stars (a Schlager is a sort of
cheesy German-language pop song), who often only appear to sing one song
pretty much out of context, or (in the case of central characters Bill
Ramsey & Trude Herr) burst into songs out of context unprovoked. Of
course all of this is pretty siklly, a stupid story meets bad comedy &
cheesy music, all of which is of course not the premise for a good movie
... but then again, if you are prepared to swallow all of this, you might
be oddly entertained - in a trashy way.
