Ashley (Meghan Carrasquillo) and Cal (Spencer Breslin) want nothing
more than a baby - but try as they may, it won't work out, and even IVF
fails repeatedly, which has them, with the aid of a doctor (Taryn
Manning), come to the realisation that Ashley's infertile. And eventually
it becomes clear that adoption is the only option. But they soon have to
realize that adoption isn't a walk through the park either amd carries its
fair share of heartbreak, even if one has done all the paperwork, does
qualify and has a sympathetic adoption officer (Stacey Dash) on one's side
...
I won't lie to you, there are moments in this movie where are
you pretty much forced into shedding some tears, but by and large this is
a rather subtle drama that, if anything, rather underplays its emotional
core - which makes it all the more effective as it feels relatable and
grounded rather than driving its points home with a sledgehammer.
Additional to that, a down-to-earth cast helps keeping things real, all of
it resulting in a rather worthwhile cinematic experience.
