Ever since an experiment gone terribly wrong, Megan (Stephanie
Falciano) has been carrying wolf DNA inside her, something that wouldn't
affect her life all that much ... unless she gets angry, which more often
than not would result in her tearing out her opponent's blood. This
condition, she has of course also inherited to her daughters, and for Lacy
(Julia Davolio) it was only natural to move from one place to the next every
time her mother or herself have slaughtered someone ... but Lacy now isn't
a little girl anymore, and she has a boyriend, Ned (Jesse Choy), whom
she wants to live a normal life with - and instead she turns him by
accident. So Lacy decides to leave her life behind to live with her sister
Kainda (Jules Roscoe), leaving Ned to himself to figure out his new life,
and her mother desperately trying to find a cure. But to find one, she has
to also face her own kind, and not all of them are very friendly to her
agenda ... Now I wouldn't call Hybrid Hazards: Revelation
a perfect film, it's a bit over-stuffed with characters for its mere 76
minute running time, characters who aren't always properly introduced and
not always given a proper character arc or send-off. At the same time,
this is also a film that tells its story with lots of heart, doesn't just
stick to its horror aspects but is basically about a mother wanting her
daughter back, and growing in the process - and in that way, it's a pretty
unusual but also very rewarding genre effort.
