Pablo Thevenet (Paul Naschy) is a down-on-his-luck veteran actor who, after years in the limelight, is forgotten by friends, fans & associates & has to go to castings to get any decent job at all, even if its a commercial, & more often than not he is rejected. So when he is hired by Reficul (Miguel Del Arco) as a (costumed) doorman for his nightclub, & is offered quite a decent salary, Pablo just has to accept (even though reluctantly).

However, Reficul & his assistant Dora (Bibiana Fernández) prove to be quite a weird couple, & they urge Pablo to buy knives, just for his own amusement - but on the other hand they also give him an assistant, the attractive ex-prostitute Tic-Tac (Mehn-Wai), who soon becomes Pablo's lover.

With the knives, Pablo soon starts killing a few people, like his arrogant agent, wannabe artists & talentless celebrities ... & all of a sudden, Pablo's career seems to take a turn for the better again, as he is hired to direct a film by a certain Herr Fuchs (Guillermo Montesinos), a German funeral home entrepreneur. & even though that film eventually turns out to be a pure snuff production, Pablo doesn't falter, but at the first day of shooting pulls out a gun & shoots everyone on the set except the intended victim ...

However, Pablo's killings don't go unnoticed by the authorities, & Tic-Tac warns him that they are already hot on his heels, but she gives him the access codes to Reficul's computer to find out more about the reasons behind it all ...

But when hacking into his computer, Pablo discovers Reficul is in fact Lucifer, who tries to make Pablo one of his servants.

Pablo, not believing in too much supernatural mumbo jumbo, shoots Reficul at the next opportunity, but is then caught by Dora ... who sees the death of Reficul as a great chance to get ahead in her business (that of being evil), & she offers Pablo a promotion ... which he refuses, after which Reficul (who being the devil & all is of course not really dead), Dora & Tic-Tac set the police onto his trail, & soon they shoot him dead ...

A few years later, Pablo - who with the help of the devil & his brood hasn't stayed dead for too long - is finally receiving his first Murmillo (a sort of Spanish Oscar) as best actor ...

Paul Naschy's return to the screens of horror cinema is at the same time a modern horror thriller & a bitter satire on modern media & its many talentless (Paris Hilton-esque) semi-celebrities. However, in wanting to be both, the movie loses itself a tad in having too many plotlines (& its lead character being the center of each of them): There's the old man who unable to come to grips with modern business stars killing people, the run-down actor signing up witht he devil to get a career boost, the successless artist who is reduced to shooting snuff, & the devil hiring his minions on earth, & using every trick in the book to get them - & often enough the script is not quite sure which story to tell, which robs the movie of most of its suspense.

Pazul Naschy however, who has been wooden in his 1960's & 70's oputput often enough, gives a great performance here.
