For some reason, Uwe Boll has garnered a reputation of notoriety over
the years, despite having churned out a string of fairly successful B
movies over the years - and while certainly not all of them are of the
cerebral kind, they're usually well-enough crafted and to the point. This
documentary then is in equal parts interview and audience Q&A with
Boll, in which Boll talks about his upcoming movie First Shift,
abandoned projects and his take on the current and recent strikes in
Hollywood ... ... and even though I don't agree with Boll on
everything, he comes across as a very likeable guy - very direct mind you,
which people might interpret as arrogant, but likeable still, even very
humourous at times. And director Rene Wiesner sure give him the necessary
room to breathe, lets him talk and stays away from gotcha questions,
ultimately giving the audience a rounded-out picture of the man, who has
many a funny story to tell, this film probably only scratching the
surface. In short, chances are if you like Uwe Boll, you'll love this, and
if you're not into his work, you'll still find this documentary ineresting
at least.
