Dr. Morita, eminent scientist on the verge of presenting his secret
weapon to defend earth, disappears without a trace - and since his son
Mamoru is a good friend of Akira (Takashi Sato), youngest of the Zone
family, the family soon figures evil alien organisation Garoga has
abducted him into the fourth dimension. So to find Dr. Morita, the Zone
family uses another eminent scientist as bait, and soon enough they've
made it through the fourth dimension into Mount Fuji, the secret hide-out
of the Garoga. Once there Zone Fighter (Kazuya Aoyama), Zone Angel (Kazumi
Kitahara) and Zone Junior (Takashi Sato) beat everybody to a pulp until
Gold Gagoga (Munemaru Koda) flies in the monster of the week, fourth
dimensional terror beast Dorora, a dinosaur-like giant creature with a
second head on its back, and Zone Fighter consequently grows to giant size
to fight the monster - until he runs out of energy of course and his
siblings need to refuel him - and then he beats Dorora to a pulp. Despite
the whole fourth dimension trip being somewhat psychedelic fun, this
episode suffers greatly from being quite so formulaic in plot. At least
the monster fight is nice though, also thanks to the rather eccentric
monster on display, making this entertaining nostalgic silliness.
