Your new movie Were-Flutter: Quest for Truth - in a few words, what's it about?

It's about a girl who finds a necklace that turns her into a dark fairy creature with butterfly wings. Were-Flutter: Quest for Truth is a follow up that Hope finds an answer, but you would have to watch the short film yourself to see what happens.

Now how did the project come into being in the first place?

It started when I got Lex E. Rojas [Lex E. Rojas interview - click here] in the sister company Were-Creature Videos and she came to me with a creature idea which is a Were-Flutter ... and I was confused but I went with it. Then she wrote a sequel to get a clear answer.

You've only last year made the movie Were-Flutter: Darkest Desire - so how closely are that one and Were-Flutter: Quest for Truth related, and did you make the former movie with the later already in mind, or was the new one more of an afterthought?

I didn't think about a sequel at first till Lex E. Rojas wrote the script, and the idea is that she wants to do more by adding them into one feature film.

What can you tell us about Were-Flutter: Quest for Truth's writer (and star) Lex E. Rojas, and what was your collaboration like?

I originally contacted her to be in Were-Creature Videos back in early 2020, and then COVID-19 happened. But then we got in touch in 2022 for her first video with me and she came up with the Were-Flutter idea. It was fun working with her since we're both creative.

What can you tell us about Were-Flutter: Quest for Truth's cast, and why exactly these people?

I liked the story idea that Lex gave me, and she wanted to work with Caitlyn Geiler who I've worked with before in both of my short films Luperca Returns and Out of Boredom. It was really fun to reunite with her again.

A few words about the shoot as such, and the on-set atmosphere?

That’s interesting. The filming was only for a day, first it was in Brooklyn at Lex's house, the library where I had to do guerilla-style filming, and then in the writer's room in Manhattan.

The $64-question of course, where can Were-Flutter: Quest for Truth be seen?

For now it's in film festival circuit but it will be online sometime in 2025.

Anything you can tell us about audience and critical reception of Were-Flutter: Quest for Truth?

All I know when is when I went to Brightside Film Festival, there were some people that liked it, but there's a few more film festivals to go to see what happens next.

Will there ever be another Were-Flutter movie, and/or other future projects you'd like to share?

There's another Were-Flutter movie in pre-production, but the next one will be in www.WereCreatureVideos.com. That's all I can say about it, I can't give too much away.

What got you into filmmaking in the first place, and did you receive any formal training on the subject?

I always wanted to be a filmmaker since I was a kid as I started shooting mini videos as well as feature length films when I was just 13 years old. I studied at Lehman College for video production class as a Saturday program in 2005. But the rest is self-taught.

What can you tell us about your filmwork prior to Were-Flutter: Quest for Truth?

It was interesting filming it and the more I like the idea, I was always wondering if I got one of my other performers from Were-Creature as a Were-Flutter as well.

How would you describe yourself as a director?

Very easy to work with, and I like to make my films entertaining.

Filmmakers who inspire you?

Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez.
