Your new movie Broken
Innocence - in a few words, what's it about, and what can you tell
us about your character in it?
My character in Broken
Innocence is Lilly. She is an abused young girl who
finally starts to stick up for herself and fight. She suffers from PTSD
and possibly other mental health issues. I worked hard on my character not
to vilify Lilly and to portray the humanity in her. What did you draw upon to
bring your character to life, and how much Arianna Harris can we find in
Lilly? I
used “substitution” as an acting technique so that I could experience
feelings that matched the scenes. This is when actors think of a time they
felt angry, sad, etc. and use those emotions in a scene. Some scenes I
couldn’t use substitution so I had to act as Lilly in those moments and
act how Lilly feels. Lilly is a very different person than me, but some of
the emotions are mine due to substitution. How did you get involved with the project, what
drew you to it? My
mom is my “momager” as we call her, and she sent a friend request to
director Chase Dudley [Chase

on Facebook. She was going to message him about a casting he posted
for Lilly, but someone tagged me in the casting before mom could reach
out. Chase thought my headshots fit the character and had me audition. He
actually had me audition for 2 roles in the movie. He was debating about
having someone 18+ to play younger for Lilly, but after I had a second
audition for Lilly I was cast. I thought the script was really cool and
the character had a lot of depth that I really wanted to portray. The
audition was actually the monologue from a crucial scene in the film and I
knew it was a chance to finally show the world what I could do as an
actress. I was really invested in doing well.
To what extent could
you identify with Broken
Innocence's approach to the thriller genre? I
love a good thriller and this film certainly has some surprises. What
can you tell us about Broken
Innocence's director Chase Dudley, and what was your collaboration
like? The
collaboration with Chase on Broken
Innocence was really good. He was
worried about working with me at first because I was 15 years old, and it
is an intense role, but he saw what i could do and really helped me bring
my acting skills to life. Do talk about the shoot as such, and the on-set
atmosphere! The
on-set atmosphere was challenging at times due to certain behaviors by
others that I will not elaborate upon. It was my first time having a
negative experience on a set, and it took me by surprise. It took a toll
on me I think. Chase was fun on set so that helped because he likes to
laugh and joke. I spent about 12-16 hours on-set per day, but long hours
are common for lead roles in indie films, so it was expected and
anticipated. Any future projects you'd like to share? I
have another film coming out with Chase called Blood on the Bleachers, and
I have a small role in The Slasher Nurse, both of which should be released
in 2025. I have been doing a lot of auditions for film and commercials.
There are some potential films in the works but nothing solidified yet What
got you into acting in the first place, and did you receive any formal
training on the subject?
I
have been in different acting classes and had different acting coaches
since probably 11 years old. It takes a long time for most people to learn
to act. You've been acting since a
rather young age - so can you still remember your first time in front of a
movie camera, and how do you think you've evolved over the years?
I think my first time in front of the camera was a lead role in a short
film. It is really funny seeing it and how high my voice was, and I didn’t really know what I was doing. I have definitely improved a lot
throughout the years. What
can you tell us about your filmwork prior to Broken
Innocence? Prior
to Broken
Innocence I was in a lot of short films, the feature films The Rose
Wagon (coming soon) and Connie, and some commercials. I had a small
featured role in Dopesick as the daughter of the protagonist Richard
Sackler, and you might have seen me featured in several episodes of Depp V
Heard. How would you describe yourself as an
actress, and some of your techniques to bring your characters to life? I
describe myself as a good actress, and I continue to train to grow my
skills. What really brings my characters to life is all the script and
scene analysis I do, and not only getting to know what the character does
but why.
Actresses
(and indeed actors) who inspire you? Dylan
O’Brien inspired me when i was younger because I thought he was cute, but
I really liked his role in The Maze
Runner. Watching the behind the scenes
really got me interested in the acting and production of everything. Your favourite
movies? I
don’t necessarily have a favorite movie anymore. It used to be Hunger
Games, then Maze Runner, and now I don’t have a favorite. I like to be
interested and engaged in things I haven’t seen before. ... and of course, films you really deplore?
I don’t like to say I deplore any movies or shows because of the amount of
work and effort and creativity everyone puts in. Even if I don’t like it
I appreciate the work that went in to creating it. Your
