A female biker gang led by Regina Carrol beats 2 men to death after they raped one of their ranks
(Maggie Bemby). Meanwhile, macho guy Ross Hagen dukes it out with a few
fellow bikers, just to show who's the boss. Then male & female
bikers get together to party, but soon the male bikers head off to some
bike race and the girls find refuge at some hippie commune (filmed at
the Spahn ranch, where not much sooner the Manson family lived - &
this movie is certainly inspired by said family) lead by weird guru King
(William Bonner). Everything seems well until one of the girls overdoses
& King decides to lock them all in to keep the law away instead of
helping the girl. Somehow Regina Carrol manages to escape, though, &
can bring back Ross Hagen & the boys to free the other girls, but,
alas, it's too late for Hagen's girl, who has already been at the
receiving end of a sacrificial knife. Hagen avenges her death by running
his motorbike off a cliff into the car King is escaping in (which
actually looks very nice), then the bikers ride off to god knows where.
This is it, the pulp version of the hippie-/biker-/Manson-era,
garnered with the usual dose of drugs, sex & violence. But it's
actually very competently done for an Al Adamson-movie, nicely filmed
action, great outdoor-scenery & excellent photography. On a pure
technical level, maybe his best movie.
