Successful businessman John (Ben Graham) has never come over the death
of his wife five years ago, which is also why he spends every Christmas at
her favourite Christmas resort, Keestone, and knows pretty much every
employee there - all but new pastry chef Madelyn (Candice Graham) ... but
he immediately falls in love with her cookies upon tasting them. He offers
to help her move her recipe into mass production, which she at first
misunderstands as flirting, also egged on by her best friend and colleague
Whisper (Meggie Jenny), which leads to many an awkward moment between
them. But John gradually warms up to Madelyn, and before long they
actually go out on dates. Thing is, John still has problems forgetting his
dead wife. And then a trio of businesspeople (Kevin Sorbo, Colin Bernsen,
Gigi Orsillo) stops by Keestone to make John an offer that's hard to
resist but that would completely change the trajectory of his life, for
better or worse ... Basically a romantic comedy wrapped up in
Christmas coating, Christmas at Keestone is at times maybe a little
too just sweet for its own good, but it's also a film full of heart with a
subtle directorial effort that doesn't try to bulldoze one with seasonal
kitsh, and the performances are all suitably restrained to give the
proceedings a certain air of believability not necessarily present in
Christmas movies, And the result then is a perfectly harmless yet pretty
cute film.
