Things have gone weird in movie vlogger John H. Shelton's life, ever
since he has tested out an urban legend and this way brought his Jeffy
handpuppet to life, and things come to a peak when Jeffy steals John's
beloved Rocky IV Blu-ray - and only a few days before Christmas,
too. So John starts to train to be able to defeat Jeffy in fight, just
like Rocky would have, but he soon notices he can't do it
alone so he hires M.T. Sack (Bayden Ray Redshaw) to be his manager, who
seems to be the perfect man for the job ... because like Jeffy, he's a
handpuppet. However despite all his training, John manages to fight Jeffy
only a standstill, with multiple injuries on both sides. So maybe another
approach might prove more successful, one with the Christmas spirit in
mind ... Now one can't help but notice that this is not the
technically most accomplished film - heck, it's not even John H. Shelton's
technically most accomplished film. But that's really missing the point,
as while this short doesn't look super-polished and very probably was done
without any crew, it's also lots of fun, basically an absurdist mix of
elements from Candyman and both
the Rocky and the Chucky
series, with some Christmassy things thrown in for good measure. And I'm
rather sure John H. Shelton enjoyed himself doing this, as the fun he has
had is clearly infectuous, making this not a great film maybe, but a
pretty entertaining piece of comedy horror nevertheless. And if
this has at all gotten you interested, A Mr. Shelton Christmas Special:
The Curse of Jeffy will premiere on YouTube on December 2nd, 2022 -
and you can see it right here then J
