Dick Turpin (Richard O'Sullivan) and Swiftnick (Michael Deeks) are
robbed of all their recent loot and their guns even by another highwayman.
They pick up pursuit and manage to track down the horse to Mrs.
Bedingfield's (Honor Shepherd) mansion, but find neither the highwayman
nor the loot. But at least Mrs. Bedingfield proves to be a generous host,
and both her daughters, Abigail (Kate Dorning) and Belinda (Stacy Dorning
- and yes, she and Kate are actual sisters, and also the real life
daughters of Honor Shepherd) are quite lovely. Especially Belinda has
caught Robin's eye, and she seems to be not quite immune to his charms.
Thing is, she's also the highwayman, and that night she tries to steal
away with the loot - but upon hearing her leaving, Dick and Swiftnick pick
up pursuit and eventually run her down. But she manages to charm Dick into
forgiving her - and then takes off with the loot yet again, to join up
with her cousin Charles (Stewart Bevan), her partner in crime. But Charles
isn't exactly an angel, and instead of sharing her loot with her, he locks
her in to sell her to white slaver Captain Rogers (Larry Hoodekoff). But
then Dick and Swiftnick, who have of course long taken up pursuit of
Belinda, arrive to save the day - for her that is. Now Richard
O'Sullivan and Michael Deeks fill out their roles as well as could have
been expected from them and have good chemistry with one another, and
Stacy Dorning as the third lead in this episode actually complements the
two of them well - too bad it was her only appearance in the series. That
all said, as a whole this is not one of the better episodes, it's just too
straight-forward, too predictable, and actually pretty shallow. It's still
a fun watch mind you, just nothing to at all write home about.
