Dennis (CJ Echterkamp) is dragging an almost all-girl punk band (Grace West, Lauren Parkinson, Aaron Groben, Savannah Goldstein) out into the swamp to shoot a music video - and given the foursome's mostly high on drugs and always up for a beer, and their boat's captain Nathan (Jesse Bernstein) is a bit on the conservative side, certain tensions are to be expected. Of course, all that's only increased once they find out a man-eathing snake/alligator hybrid is roaming the countryside. At the same time., pathetic alpha male-wannabe Layton (Michael Madsen) has hired hunting guide Jake (Paul Logan) for a tour to "make a man" of his rather sensitive son (Bryan Clark), with their game being said hybrid creature. But then, our punk band and entourage gets in their way, and "accidently", Layton shoots dead one of them (Aaron Groben) while on the hunt, and suddenly our heroes find tnemselves between a rock and a hard place, with the monster on one side, the hunters on the other ...

Now it pretty much goes without saying when it comes to creature features, on the low budget end of things, Jim Wynorski doesn't fail to deliver, what with both his decades of experience and also his felt love for the genre. And Wynorski sure does deliver iwth DinoGator, and he's of course also helped by a üretty good titular creature and decent effects work. What really makes this film though is that it doesn't take itself very seriously and in the process at least to a degree makes fun of genre tropes, squeezing many a chuckle out of a by this day and age (over-)tried-and-true formula. And the result is maybe predictable but still very entertaining genre fare that should make a great party movie for sure.
