A handful of loosely connected stories of our world where smart phones,
social media and ready-made sex go hand-in-hand:
- Sandra (Kathleen Lee) buys random stuff from strangers via online
classifieds to steal some of their (mostly wothless) personal
belongings, until one of the sellers (Harry Tseng) tracks her back ...
- Milly (Maria Angelico) accidently destroys her phone, which
opens her eyes as to how much her boyfriend (Yianni Warnock) is
addicted to his - and she's unsure whom she wants more, Damian or
his phone ...
- It should have been an anonymous sex date between Apple
(Isabella Giovinazzo) and Tom (Tavis Urquhart), but there's just
something less than desirable about handsome Tom ...
- After Archie's (Nicholas Jaquinot) girlfriend locked him out of
his Netflix account he invites random women over for "Netflix
and chill", just to get their password ...
- Maya (Chloe Martin) has made it a habit to invite strangers she
meets on the streets to her apartment for some sex - just not for
the reason you'd expect her to, as she's not quite human ...
A fun movie that's in equal parts comedy, science fiction and social
commentary, and that sits very well between all these chairs thanks to a
clever script that light-footedly combines the trivial and the weird, with
probably everyone who has even once used social media and/or a smart phone
finding oneself mirrored in at least some of the episodes. And thanks to a
strong and relatable cast, and a directorial effort that doesn't push too
hard for punchlines and instead gives story and actors air to breathe,
this one has turned out to be a very enjoyable little movie.
