Sabrina (Sarah Morse) enters her neighbourhood small town diner,
dressed to kill - and with a little nudge from waitress Roberta (Emily
Entwisle), she quickly spots tonight's prey, writer Jim (Michael Blanton),
who's quick to respond to her charms the right way. Thing is, a woman like
Sabrina doesn't come without a past - a past like former lover Tom (Miek
Erlech), who isn't exactly happy to see her talking to another man. But
the altercation that ensues isn't like anything you'd expect ... Even
though this short is full of references to vintage movies, literature and
music, Night Owl is a pretty unusual film, at least in this day and
age, for its reliance on sharp dialogue, carefully framed images, music
and even dance, using all these elements to drive the story into rather
unusual yet quite exhilarating directions. And a solid cast given enough
space to bring their characters to life sure also helps making this a very
enoyable movie.
