Joshua (Jonathan Erwin) has hever gotten over his sister having been
taken from him by leukemia, so much so that even his psychiatrist (Lucy
Borchers) runs thin on ideas - so she tells him to maybe make his
ans his sister's story into a piece of creative writing. Joshua, always a
writer at heart, is all for it. So he makes up the story of Mallory (Tammy
Sasnow), a woman who gets sacked by her boss (Timothy J. Cox), ditched by
her boyfriend (Bryson Schultz), and told she has leukemia all the same
day. So obviously, Mallory is the perfect projection board for Joshua -
until of course he meets Mallory in real life ... The basic
premise of Rewriting Mallory of course is grief and how to deal
with it, and that's a premise that really can go anywhere - and goes
just the right direction in this short as it puts a light, at times even
slightly comedic spin to it, without ever betraying the film's severe
cause though, but getting a very entertaining story out of it, that's also
very engagning thanks to rounded out main characters brought to life by a
pretty solid cast - making this one just a pretty worthwhile watch indeed.
