In a continuation of Man
About the House, unemployed chef Robin (Richard O'Sullivan)
has since moved in with his girlfriend Vicky (Tessa Wyatt). He dreams of
opening his own bistro, but of course, the money's tight. Opportunity
arises though when the Chinese restaurant downstairs goes bust, and the
place actually belonging to Vicky's dad James (Tony Britton), he figures
he could rent it from James and getting him on board as sleeping partner
should get him out of paying the rent. Thing is, James doesn't like Robin
very much, and doesn't approve of his daughter living with a man without
being married - though in Robin's defense she has turned down all his
proposals. But to break the ice, Robin has invited James over to wow and
win him over with his culinary skills - and while the food turns out
really nice, the evening turns out to be a total disaster ... A
continuation of Man
About the House in more ways than one, as the style of
character-based humour carries over into this series, with Richard
O'Sullivan again on his oddly charming yet clumsy self, and he has great
chemistry with (his later real-life girlfriend) Tessa Wyatt and Tony
Britton, while the situations the characters are put through in this
episode are relatable and yet pretty funny.
