A disfigured graverobber (Christopher Kahler) digs up the coffin of a
beautiful woman (Samantha Hupp), to steal from it a book - full of stories
of pure horror:
- The Ties That Bind: Six years ago, Detective Herman (Joseph
Martin Jauch) was forced to arrest his own father in law James (Joe
DeBartolo) for the murder of his own daughter. Now, in the case of the
disappearance of young hiker Judy (Heather Jokiel), he might have
found some clues that might exonerate James - thing is, the trail he
follows leads back to his own family ...
- Look Towards the Sky: Frank (Will Devokees) has been gone for
three days, enough to get his wife Julie (Kristina Santiago) and dad
(Joseph DiGristine) mighty worried, and heck, his disappearance has
even made the news. And then he returns, pretty much out of thin air,
and claims he has been abducted by aliens. What's more worrying though
he also claims the aliens are preparing to eliminate humankind ...
- Clean House: Farm girl Andrea (Melisa Reyes) has a
miscarriage - and that fact and the grief that comes with it, are
enough to let some malevolent being into her house. She calls the
church for an exorcism, but it's less than certain that a country
priest (Claudio Martin) is a match for whatever it is that has come up
from hell ...
- Highway Rivalry: After her husband (Ralph Rey) has died from
a heart attack, Terri (Debbie D) decides to hit the road, hitchhicking
to a new life. And she's soon picked up by a nice enough guy (Phil
Herman) - who might just be the notorious serialkiller they dub the Highwayman
...
Genre fave Tina Krause plays one of the Highwayman's victims in this
one.
As is often the case with Phil Herman's anthologies, it's near
impossible to judge this one as a whole as its segments differ
considerably in tone. from straightforfard police procedural (The Ties
That Bind) to lyrical exorcism tale (Clean House), from
alien invasion singe location dialogue piece (Look Twards the Sky)
to serialkiller road movie (Highway Rivalry). What all the episodes
have in common though is they show a clear love towards and deep
understanding for the horror genre, so much so that it's near impossible
for a genre fan to not enjoy at least some of the segments.
